Local, licenced, and here since 1993

Shortcut Computers has been looking after business technology in South East Melbourne for 33 years. Most of that work is ongoing support, extended with the licenced trade work — cabling, cameras, cabinets and compliance.

What we actually do

We started in 1993 doing computer support for small business, and that is still the core of it — most of our customers are businesses we look after year after year on a support contract.

Alongside that sits the infrastructure underneath it: the cabling, the cabinets, the cameras and the testing that keep a business running and compliant. That work is licenced and regulated, and it is where doing it properly actually shows. A network is only as good as the cabling under it, and a camera system is only worth what you can see on the footage.

How we work

You deal with the person doing the job. Most work can be priced over the phone once you describe it; for larger jobs we book a site visit by appointment. Work happens around your hours where it needs to — cabling and test and tag are disruptive in a working office, so a lot of what we do happens early, late or on weekends.

When we finish, you get the documentation: test results, asset registers and patch schedules. Not because it looks impressive, but because the next person who has to work on it — including us in three years — needs it.

What we don't do

We do not take on home computer repair. It is not what we are set up for, and you would be better served by someone who specialises in it. Call us anyway and we will point you to someone local — there is no charge for a recommendation.
