Why this matters more than most people realise
Cabling that connects to the telecommunications network has to be installed by a registered cabler. That is not a guideline — it is the ACMA cabling rules, and it applies to phone, PBX and data cabling in every commercial building in the country.
The practical point is compliance and accountability: registered cablers work to the applicable cabling rules and provide the required documentation. It is worth asking any contractor to show current registration before work starts.
The same logic applies to test and tag. A tag on a lead is not worth much on its own; what makes it useful is a register showing what was tested, by whom, when, and when it is due again. That is what an auditor or an insurer actually wants to see.
What we hold
The person who quotes on the job will be the person installing it however we dont always work alone we do hire regular contractors to assist with cable and data terminations on larger projects.
- Phone and PBX cabling. Registered cabling work under the ACMA cabling rules.

- CCTV / security equipment installation. Qualified and licensed Security Equipment Installer work for CCTV and security camera systems in Victoria.
- Test and tag. Qualified in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment to AS/NZS 3760.
The standards behind the work
These are the Australian standards the work is done and documented against. If you need evidence of compliance for a landlord, an insurer or a head contractor, this is what it refers to.
| AS/CA S009 | Installation requirements for customer cabling |
|---|---|
| AS/NZS 3760 | In-service safety inspection and testing |
| AS/NZS 3084 | Telecommunications pathways and spaces |
| ACMA Cabling Rules | Registered cabler requirements |
What you get on completion
Documentation is part of the job, not an extra. Depending on the work, that means certified test results for cabling runs, a labelled patch schedule matching the cabinet, an asset register for test and tag, and a handover on how to use what we have installed.
Questions we get asked
Why does it matter if a cabler is registered?
Because customer cabling that connects to the telecommunications network must be carried out by, or under the supervision of, an appropriately registered cabler. It is a fair question to ask any contractor for evidence of current registration before they start.
Can you provide evidence of registration and insurance?
Yes. Ask and we will provide it. If a builder, landlord or facility manager needs it on file before we start, that is normal and we are used to it.
Do you subcontract any of this work out?
The person who quotes on the job will be the person installing it however we dont always work alone we do hire regular contractors to assist with cable and data terminations on larger projects.
Credentials
Evidence, on request
Happy to provide any of these before we start. If a builder, landlord or facility manager needs them on file, that is normal and we are used to it.
